Welcome to Sanachan Bunkhouse!
There are many ways to get to the bunkhouse here in Kishorn... Here are a few of them!
By Car
There are 3 main ways to get here by road.
If travelling from Inverness you follow A835 to Garve, and shortly after passing through Garve you take the A832 to Achnasheen. Here you get an option: the slightly shorter route takes the A890 to Lochcarron (just before Lochcarron it becomes the A896), through the village and then over the pass to Kishorn. For the slightly longer route continue on the A832 to Kinlochewe, turn left onto the A896 to Torridon, and continue to follow the road to Kishorn. From Achnasheen it takes around 40 minutes to an hour to get to the Bunkhouse.
The bunkhouse is on the right coming from Lochcarron, and on the left coming from Torridon or Applecross. The bunkhouse is also directly opposite the Patterns of Light gift shop.
By Plane
Scotland has several airports, however the closest by far is Inverness Airport, which is around 1 hour and 45 minutes away by car, or between 2 and a half hours to three hours by train. If booked far enough in advance, it is possible to get very reasonably priced tickets with Easyjet, and also Flybe.
Once in Inverness you have a few options- either hiring a car, getting the train or being picked up by minibus. If a large group of you are arriving to Inverness and looking for onward travel, then Booking a minibus could be a good option. Misty Isle Tours can provide minibus pick ups, as well as tours, and more information can be found on their website by clicking the button on this page.
By Train
You can get the train from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh, and then get off at Strathcarron. (Equally if you'd got the bus to Kyle, you could get the train up to Strathcarron from there. There are also sleeper trains that come up from London via Inverness. (As of March 2016 a single ticket from Inverness to Strathcarron can cost as little as £9.70 if booked in advance.
The Lochcarron Garage minibus often runs a bus service from Strathcarron station to the the villages to coincide with the train timetable.
By Bus
You can get Scottish Citylink buses to Kyle of Lochalsh and Inverness from the south, and then the train or minibus pick ups from either location to get to the bunkhouse.
By Bike
If arriving by bike then you can use the same routes at the cars... and see the road biking page in 'Thing's to do' or the 'North Coast 500' page. The highest pass in Britain, the Bealach na Ba starts just 5 minutes down the road from the bunkhouse as well.
