Places to eat

There are several places to eat in the local area...

The Kishorn Seafood bar is located 2 doors down from the bunkhouse and serves a scrumptious range of local seafood and even has a license so you can have a hard earned drink at the end of your day amongst the mountains!

The Kishorn Seafood bar is open from March till November.

The Applecross Inn can be found just over the Bealach na Ba pass in the remote village of Applecross, which has be drawing walkers, climbers, cyclists and, well, everybody for many years! The drive from the bunk house takes around half an hour over the pass, or if the pass is shut, which occasionally happens in winter conditions, then you can take the coastal road which takes around an hour.

The Applecross Inn has a fine selection of local ales, amongst other drinks as well as some excellent food.

The Bealach Café is a delightful place to stop on your way to Applecross or Torridon, with freshly ground coffee and home made scones and cakes. There is a also a gallery at the café, which is well worth a look!

The Lochcarron Hotel is open all year round and during winter months you can find a cosy fire. They have a great selection of whisky as well as local brews, and a varied menu. It takes just under 10 minutes to drive to the hotel from the bunkhouse.

The Strathcarron Hotel is a further 5 minutes or so up the road from the Lochcarron Hotel, and is directly next to the Strathcarron Train Station. Like the Lochcarron Hotel they serve the typical Scottish fayre of drinks and food, and can also often be found with a cosy fire in winter months.

The Carron Restaurant is located on the road between Lochcarron and the Kyle of Localsh, about 20 minutes from the bunkhouse, and serve a range of dishes made with local produce. They also often hold events for occasions such as St Andrews day and Christmas.

There are several other places to find some good food, such as the Lochacrron Bistro or the Waterside Café, down in Lochcarron, or up toward Sheildaig and Torridon.
